With over 20 years of experience in the design and publishing industries, Vivien is creative director of Vivien Sung Design, a multi-disciplinary design studio. She received her BA in Visual Communication (honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Vivien began her career at Extro Design (Sydney), pioneers in broadcast design. She spent a decade working in the United States first at design and branding firm Carbone Smolan Agency (New York) and then as senior designer at publishing company Chronicle Books (San Francisco). In addition, she has freelanced for numerous design firms and publications including Tsang Seymour (New York), De luxe & Associates (Sydney), Conde Naste Publications (Sydney), and Fairfax Media (Sydney).
Beginning with a thoughtful process of research, concept development and exploration, Vivien works collaboratively with her clients to create unique, meaningful, smart and concept-based solutions to design problems. Based in Sydney, Australia, she provides creative direction, concept development, publication design, corporate identity, environmental design, and website design.
Her clients include The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Customs House, Performance 4a, Circus Action International, Storey Publishing (USA), Murdoch books, Hardie Grant Books and Chronicle books(USA).
Her work has been accredited numerous industry awards in both the U.S. and Australia. She is an AGDA councillor and a member of the City of Sydney Chinese New Year Festival advisory group.

Vivien Sung is author of the award-winning book Five-fold Happiness published by Chronicle Books now in its fifth printing. French edition published by Seuil.
Her work has been published in ID Magazine, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, How Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, Flaunt Magazine, and Vanity Fair.
Vivien has been a guest lecturer at California College of the Arts (CCA), San Francisco and the University of Technology, Sydney. She has also been a guest critic at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco and the Stanford Publishing Course.
